“Working with Kevin Polay changed me. As an artist. As a person. As a professional. Aside from helping me break down story or work through clunky dialogue and ideas, he's also taught me composure and grace. You know that saying, "Not all great players are great coaches"? That's not the case with Kevin. His wealth of writing and industry experience flows out of him. He's kind, direct, and hilarious. Kevin remembers the fundamentals while giving you advanced notes that push your talent. He's on a short list of folks I would recommend to coach writing and pitching. If you are lucky enough to have a chance to work with Kevin, take it!”

“Kevin’s a true master of his craft, but he’d never tell you that, so I am. His deep understanding of story, structure, and character enabled him to spot the bumps in my script and guide me through a process that was thrilling, enlightening and a whole lotta fun. Kevin also understands that a good story doesn’t mean it’s a long-running series. I struggle with story engines and Kevin was able to guide my protagonist’s internal struggles into external plot goals for TV. Kevin’s purest gift is his personality. I never once felt he was teaching me anything — just guiding me. That’s invaluable for accessing your artistry. I can’t thank him or recommend him enough!”

“After I returned to writing in 2021, taking workshops and classes again I met Kevin who helped me find my story, my voice, and helped me to truly understand the importance of structure, themes, pacing, conflict, character arcs and most importantly, he helped me define and find my own unique voice and story which resulted in my first story “Pussy Money” being published in The Fabulist in July 2022. “

“I met Kevin at St. John’s University School of Law and we quickly bonded over our shared passion for storytelling and earned us spots on the Executive Board of our Law School’s Moot Court Trial Competition and went on to win multiple national tournaments. A few years later, while practicing law in NY, Kevin told me he took a night class in screenwriting at NYU for fun and was working on an original screenplay idea based on the fable of The Scorpion & The Frog. But he didn’t have a personal computer at the time… and I DID! And I somehow convinced Kevin to write it together and see if we can sell it. Six months later, while holding down full-time careers in law that we both kind of hated, we finished our first screenplay: The Scorpion & The Frog, and sent out 1,000 blind letters of inquiry to agents and managers in Los Angeles and New York. Then flew out to the Sundance Film Festival with 50 copies of our script in hand. While waiting in line for a movie, we met a literary manager, Todd Sharp, and hit it off, and gave him a copy of our script. Two weeks later… he called to say he wanted to rep us, set up some meetings, and flew us out to L.A. After a week of pitch meetings, we got a lot of love and interest and sold our first feature film pitch to Chip Diggins at Paramount Pictures, packed up a U-Haul the next week, moved to L.A.within a month. Along the way, Kevin was the grounding and stabilizing force in our writing partnership and an exceptionally generous and creative collaborator who always kept his cool and kept us on track.”

“I hired Kevin to help me create content and copy for my business website that would perfectly and powerfully encapsulate who I am as a psychotherapist and coach. I found Kevin to not only be talented and focused when it came to his creativity and attention to detail, but also a patient copywriter and editor who took the time and effort to understand the goals and challenges of my business in an effort to craft a tone, style, and message that reflected my voice and values perfectly, and resonated with soon to be clients. More so, through the entire process, I found him to be both easy and enjoyable to work with, providing me with just the right amount of flexibility and problem solving to fit my extremely busy schedule."
