How do you convert potential viewers of AMC’s Revolutionary War drama “TURN” into Die-Hard enthusiasts? We drew parallels between the issues of the Revolutionary War and the fractured climate of 2016’s presidential contest, of course. Our insight; that key issues like Taxes, Gun Control and Immigration were as heated during George Washington’s time as they are today, convinced us to bring the original “George Dubyah” into the presidential race. We created a full-fledged campaign site featuring our first president’s stance on critical issues; a national online vote; tracking how G.W. fared against the current candidates; digital campaign materials and more. We also created wrapped campaign buses and coordinated a live “Town Hall“ event with TURN’s George Washington going up against former real-life candidates - Mike Huckabee (R-AR) and Martin O’Malley (D-MD).
My father was more than just my dad. He was my hero, my best friend, my greatest teacher, my role model & an all-around great human being. And he would’ve been a shoe-in for “The Best Father On The Planet Award”, if such an award existed. Unfortunately, not all kids win the parenting jackpot like I did. And by doing so, we created a fun, exciting, and truly durable property that continues to excite, entertain, and attract fans new and old… to this day!
As co-creator, lead producer, co-director and scriptwriter of 100’s of hours of branded content for kids and adults, it took A LOT of hard work, dedication, silliness and effort to not laugh out loud on the set… and ruin a great take. But the stellar results were worth every minute of effort and tom-foolery.
